Choosing the right time of day can make a huge difference in how your Bali photos look and feel. With its tropical light, soft skies, and beautiful beachfront settings, Bali offers three popular options for photoshoots — morning, late afternoon, and sunset. Each timing creates a different mood, and the right choice depends on your family, your location, and the style of photos you love. Here’s a simple guide to help you pick the perfect time for your session.
Why Morning Sessions Are a Perfect Choice
Morning is one of the most beautiful times to take photos in Bali. The light is soft, gentle, and flattering — especially between 8 and 10 AM. It brings a clean, fresh glow that suits every skin tone and creates a calm, airy look.
Temperatures are cooler, resort grounds are quieter, and kids are usually full of energy after a good rest. This makes morning sessions relaxed and easy, especially for families with little ones.

Our Morning Recommendation
For most families, 9:00 AM is ideal — soft light, happy kids, cooler weather, and calm resort surroundings.
Why Afternoon Sessions Can Be Just as Beautiful
Afternoon brings a warmer tone to your photos. Between 3 and 5 PM, the light becomes richer and slightly more golden, creating deeper colors and a cozy atmosphere.
This timing works beautifully in resort gardens, pathways, and beachfront areas, even in locations like Nusa Dua where the sun sets on the opposite side of the island.

Our Afternoon Recommendation
We suggest 4:00–5:00 PM.
It’s not too hot, and the glow is soft and flattering without harshness.
Sunset Photoshoots: When They Work and Where
Sunset in Bali is iconic — but it’s only visible on the west-facing side of the island.
That means:
✔ Seminyak
✔ Canggu
✔ Kuta
✔ Jimbaran
✔ Uluwatu
These locations offer true golden sunsets with orange and pink skies.

But what about Nusa Dua?
Nusa Dua faces east, meaning no real sunsets on the beach.
You get beautiful soft afternoon light — but not the dramatic orange sky that people associate with sunset photos.
If sunset is important to you, we always recommend choosing a west-coast location.
Our Sunset Recommendation
Sunset sessions begin around 5:15–6:00 PM, depending on the month.
Why We Don’t Recommend Noon Sessions
Noon in Bali can be extremely harsh for photography. The sun is directly overhead, creating:
- strong shadows under the eyes and nose
- squinting because of brightness
- very high heat, making it uncomfortable
- visible sweat patches on clothes
- hot sand, difficult for barefoot photos
- flat, unforgiving light with little softness
Even beautiful locations can look washed out at this time of day.
For the best results and the most comfortable experience, we always recommend avoiding noon hours.
However, if noon is the only time that fits your travel plans or tour schedule, it’s still possible to do the session. We simply adapt by choosing shaded areas, covered spots, and indoor–outdoor corners within your resort. The flow might be a bit more limited, but we always make it work beautifully.
Considering Kids, Routines, and Family Energy
Children usually do best at the time of day when they’re happiest. For some it’s morning, for others it’s late afternoon. Choosing a timing that matches your family’s natural rhythm ensures a smooth session with real smiles and relaxed energy.

Weather Considerations in Bali
Both morning and afternoon sessions work beautifully depending on the season.
Mornings tend to be clearer, while afternoons may bring light clouds — which often act as soft natural diffusers, making the light even more flattering.
If rain appears, it usually passes quickly. And because sessions take place inside your resort, we always have shaded paths, open-air lobbies, and garden areas to continue the shoot comfortably.
Beautiful Locations Inside Your Resort (Any Time of Day)
Your resort offers plenty of stunning corners at both morning and afternoon times: peaceful gardens, architectural lines, grand staircases, breezy pathways, and the beach close by. No matter the timing, the convenience of being inside your resort keeps the session relaxed and enjoyable.

Which Time Should You Choose?
If you want:
- bright, airy photos → choose morning
- warm, glowing colors → choose late afternoon
- true orange sunsets → choose Seminyak/Canggu/Kuta/Jimbaran/Uluwatu
- best for kids → match their happiest time
- cooler temperatures → choose morning
- romantic atmosphere → choose afternoon or west-coast sunset
There’s no wrong choice — each timing offers something beautiful.
Choosing the Right Time for Your Family
Bali offers gorgeous light from morning to evening. What matters most is choosing the timing that fits your family’s energy and the location where you’re staying. Whether it’s a fresh morning glow, a warm afternoon ambiance, or a west-coast sunset, the island always gives us something magical to work with.
